Instrumental Music Program

Our Instrumental Music Program gives students the opportunity to learn an instrument, develop their musical skills and confidence, and become part of our vibrant school music community.
Whether your child is learning an instrument for the first time or already has musical experience, the program provides opportunities to learn, practise, perform and enjoy making music with others.
Instruments Available
Students can choose from a range of instruments, including:
- 🎸 Guitar
- 🎸 Bass Guitar
- 🥁 Drum Kit / Percussion
- 🎹 Piano / Keyboard
- 🎷 Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone)
- 🎺 Brass (Trumpet and Trombone)
- 🎤 Voice
Lessons may be offered as either private or shared lessons, depending on student preferences, enrolment numbers and timetabling availability.
How the Program Works
Students participate in a 30-minute lesson each week. Lessons operate on a rotating timetable, ensuring students do not miss the same class each week.
To support steady progress, students are expected to practise for a minimum of 15-20 minutes at least three times each week.
As part of the Instrumental Music Program, students are also required to participate in at least one school ensemble each year. Ensemble participation provides valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, performance skills and musical confidence while making music with others.
Performance Opportunities
Throughout the year, students have many opportunities to showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements through performance.
Students may be invited to perform at:
- Lunchtime concerts
- Evening performances
- School events
- Community events
- Other music activities and performances throughout the year
Performing helps students build confidence, develop their musicianship and experience the excitement of sharing music with an audience.
Instrument Hire
Students who require an instrument for home practice may be able to hire one through the College. As the number of instruments available is limited, hire is subject to availability.
Students wishing to hire an instrument must complete a separate Instrument Hire Form. For more information, please contact Mr Johnson.
Fees and CSEF Support
Lesson fees are:
- Group lessons: $50 per term
- Private lessons: $75 per term
- Instrument hire (where available): $50 per term
Students may participate in a free two-week trial at the beginning of a term. Families wishing to continue after the trial period will be required to complete an enrolment form.
