School councils play an important role in Victorian government school. Understanding their legislated power and functions, as well as the functional split between the school council and the principal is critical for the effective functioning of the school council.
Some of the key functions of school council are:

• To establish the board direction and vision of the school within the school’s community
• Assist in the efficient governance of the school
• Enhance the educational opportunities of students at the school
• to raise funds for school related purposes

We believe the strength of the school is determined by the strength of the parent community behind it!
