Doctors in Secondary Schools

We are very excited to announce that we are one of 20 schools in Victoria selected to be part of the Doctors inSecondary Schools initiative, which means that, starting in term 2, we will have a General Practitioner (GP)with a Practice Manager, working from our own fit-for-purpose building, one day per week.

I have attached photos of our new Wellbeing Centre, which when not being used by our doctor, will be used by our Health Educator Jackie Weepers each Thursday and Friday. Jackie meets with our students on a range of health issues; from diabetes, eating disorders, anxiety, stress & depression to issues about sexual health and general wellbeing. Jackie also works with our teaching staff and assists in many Health & Human Development classes. Students & parents are very welcome to meet and speak confidentially with Jackie and she is available at school each Thursday & Friday on 9719 1200.

We are fortunate to have Provisional Psychologist Anna Hames with us this year. Anna is available to work with our students each Tuesday at no charge however parental consent is required. To see Anna, you do not require a Mental Health Plan but you do need to speak to me and I will provide you with the necessary documentation and who will then also arrange the initial appointment with Anna.

Our Youth Worker Russell Willis is still part of our Wellbeing Team and Russell is also here each Tuesday. All students are able to see Russell but again, parent consent is required (for students under 16 years). Consent forms are available from me and initial appointments are also arranged through me but ongoing confidential appointments are made with Russell, these are free of charge.

Eva Natsis is our College Chaplain and Eva is available at the College every day except Wednesday to work with and offer support and counselling to all our students. Students are able to make appointments to see Eva before school, at Recess or Lunchtime and all counselling sessions are confidential.

If you have any wellbeing concerns about your child, please feel free to contact me. I can also offer assistance to families in financial crisis in regards to uniform, and can guide you to supports regarding school books. I am available every day and look forward to assisting you.
