Senior Boys Football

On Thursday 19th May 2016 the Senior Boys Footy team competed in the Whittlesea Division interschool round-robin against Epping SC and Mill Park SC.

In our first game we came up against a strong Mill Park outfit and we were always playing catch up footy as they won the toss and kicked with a strong four goal breeze in the first half, piling on seven goals to our solitary one behind. In the second half Whittlesea fought back but just could not sustain pressure on the opposition and were outscored five goals to two.

In our second match against Epping SC were once again were forced to chase their score all day after losing a second toss of the coin. At half time Epping were leading by just under 4 goals. Coach Shem Joseph gave the boys a rev up at half time and it worked, with our boys playing the second half with a new lease of life, kicking six goals to Epping’s two! With less than a minute remaining, captain Kyle Richardson confirmed his status as one of the top 3 players there on the day with a mark and goal to put us in front. Throughout the day, Rye Johnson ran off half-back to set up the play and vice-captain Jay Tait worked hard through the midfield. Darcy Bell crashed open packs at centre half-forward and Blake Watson and Matthew Allen worked tirelessly all day creating options for our forwards Zac Orr and Kallum Stott.

The entire group of young men all thoroughly enjoyed the day, which for most in the team will be their last interschool sport competition of their lives.
