Ohmigod you guys! It's Legally Blonde!
Legally Blonde!
In April of 2017 a number of Whittlesea Secondary College students went through the process of auditioning for the school production, Legally Blonde The Musical Jr.
After hours of auditions and much deliberation, a cast and crew of around 50 were selected. Rehearsals were held every Thursday after school, along with a Holiday rehearsal leading into September. The show was performed over 3 nights on the 14th 15th and 16th of September and both cast and crew did a fantastic job bringing the show to life.
Legally Blonde Jr starred a range of students from Years 7-12 and was based on the hugely successful film Legally Blonde. Students performed original pop songs to sell out shows and entertained audiences as they told the story of Elle Woods.
Shanae Watson dazzled audiences, belting out ballads as Malibu girl turned Lawyer, Elle Woods. Billy Black portrayed Warner perfectly as a guy stuck between worlds- caught between his former life with Elle and his newfound serious life with Vivienne (Elle’s Nemesis turned bestie), played by Kristen Stone. Will Spriggs gave a fantastic performance of Emmett Forrest- Elle’s new found love, while Emily Rizzotto, Kasey Hall and Cherri Anderson brought some serious energy to the stage as Margot, Serena and Pilar- Elle's Delta Nu sisters. Jess Campbell energised audiences as the rope-skipping murder suspect Brooke Wydham.
Alex Marke impressed as Professor Callahan and Emily Mitchelson excelled as the lovelorn blue-collar beautician Paulette, with her Love interest Kyle (played by Tyler Leeson) producing laughs every night.
It’s safe to say the show was a huge success and was loved by audiences on all nights. The sound, lighting and stage crew (Led by Year 11 students Bellanna Jenkins, Lachlan Gilmore and Mackenna Willis) worked tirelessly on all nights to put on a show that ran smoothly. All students involved made the entire production team extremely proud of their effort and performance. A huge thank-you to all of those involved, particularly Sheridan Paterno and Leanne Graham for their great work on choreography and costumes! J
Until next year,
