A Novel Approach

VCE Literature

Ms Daines’ VCE Literature class took a ‘novel’ approach to its study of Chris Wallace-Crabbe’s poetry. As part of their ‘Creative Response’ task they swapped pens for paintbrushes and produced their own visual responses to one of his most painterly poems, ‘Sunset sky near Coober Pedy’. The students expressed their personal interpretations of the poem by representing the creative act he describes-not in their words, but in ‘dashes, daubs, streaks, smears and dollops’.
