Lending a helping hand
As part of our 2nd year VET Hospitality workplace training, students were able to utilise their skills and volunteer their time at Fare Share.
Fare Share provides meals for homeless and disadvantaged people of Victoria. On the day students prepared and cooked 1100 sausage rolls, packed and labelled 1000 quiches, lined 900 quiche dishes with pastry and chopped 120kg of capsicums all in a 3 hour period.
This valuable experience teaches them employability skills, teamwork, food safety, time management skills all whilst helping our underprivileged community.
Many volunteers commented on the exceptional work ethic and behaviour that our students demonstrated on the day. A very proud moment for me as their teacher.
