Kangaroo and Damper tasting

National Reconciliation Week Event

To acknowledge National Reconciliation Week the Indigenous students ran a BBQ kangaroo and damper tasting session for all students and staff at lunchtime on Thursday 1 June. Adding to the reconciliation atmosphere Mitchell and Toby Allen played the didgeridoo and the banner the College students and staff made during NRW last year was on show behind the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. Supported by Rex Taylor (Youth Support Officer, Baseline Youth Services), the students prepared for the event with great enthusiasm. More than 150 students and staff came to taste the food and enjoy the atmosphere. Thanks to all staff who helped out in the lead up and on the day - in particular our BBQ chef and VET hospitality teacher Mrs Samantha Banthorpe, who guided our Indigenous student helpers to prepare the food for a large crowd.
