Intermediate Basketball

Our best basketballers across our middle school ventured out to Mill Park Basketball Stadium on Thursday August 18 to compete to be the winners of the Whittlesea Division for 2016.

Our girls started their campaign strongly against Gilson College, who struggled throughout the day. Taylah Naumovski was our standout for the match, scoring early baskets to set up the win, which was 42 – 0.

After a fantastic start our girls wanted to bring in the momentum against all other competing schools. However, the first match against Gilson would prove to be our only win for the day. A fired up Epping proved too good in our second game and ran away with a narrow win in the final 2 minutes. Eventual winners Lalor proved to be by far the best team of the day in the competition, their representative players giving them a comfortable win against every team. Our game against Mill Park was close but a fatigued Whittlesea ran out of legs in the second half.

Our girls were gallant all day. Maddie Brullo was the best player.

It was a much different story for our boys.  No team was able to score more than 10 points against them, as well as our team scoring above 40 points in every game.

Brayden Dunn led the way for the boys, dunking a basket in every game as well as setting up multiple others into the day.

Our boys now move on to Regionals where we await to see who will be the best basketball school in Northern Metro Victoria.
