How's that!

Year 9 Girl's Cricket

Our Year 9 Girls took on Lalor on our home ground at Whittlesea Secondary College Oval in hot conditions on the first day of autumn for the year.

Many of our girls were new to the game but the enthusiasm in training was outstanding, which meant the day was always going to be a fun one.

Whittlesea were the first team to bowl, a big advantage being able to field before the heat of the day hit. Lalor were bowled out for an impressive 66 after 19 overs, which was a solid opening score. Our girls bowled very consistently, with an even spread of wicket takers amongst our team.

Taking to the crease, Captain Morgan Gandolfo showed her natural cricket ability right from the get go, being the only player to hit multiple boundaries on the day, and scoring an unbeaten 22. Whittlesea cruised to victory after 13 overs in what was a fantastic display of cricket.

The win means our girls will go through to the Northern Metropolitan Regional matches where we will battle to be the best school in our zone, as well as being the first team through for Whittlesea in 2017.
