Girls Tennis

Our Intermediate Girls Tennis team set out to Boroondara Sports Complex for their Regional competition to see who would be crowned Champion of Northern Metro. In a very tough drawer our girls were brilliant on the day and competitive in all matches.

In round 1 against Eltham, our number 1 seed Shanae Watson led the way in defeating her opponent in her opening match. Eltham’s lower order players were extremely strong, and they managed to take out the game, meaning Whittlesea would now be fighting for places.

Our round 2 match against Aitken (who were eventual winners), we would see how high the level of competition would be on the day. Kayla Howe and Chelsea Harvey nearly managed a close win in doubles, and Alisha Camilleri won a set off a very talented number 2 opponent, however we were well beaten meaning all our hopes would now be set on our third and final match.

Our round 3 opponents was against Northcote, and after facing defeat in the opening two rounds our girls were brilliant and response, with all girls winning at least a set each which was enough to get a win on the final match of the day.

Congratulations to our girls for reaching this round of competition.
