Cafe' Culture- Lemon Meringue Cakes

Last week in the kitchen students enjoyed making beautiful Lemon Meringue Cakes. The cakes are a requirement of the Year 10 Food Technology Café Culture program. These photos will form part of the evaluations that students undertake to further their understanding of ingredient knowledge and cooking processes. The cakes are made in three sections. The lemon flavoured cake is baked in muffin tins and when cooled, they are filled with fresh homemade lemon curd. The finishing touch of meringue is then piped on with a piping bag and a star nozzle. Finally the cakes are returned to the oven just long enough to cook the meringue. And they taste great!!
