2016 Subject Selections

Students have received their 2016 Subject allocation and will begin year 12 classes during Transition Week (Monday 23rd – Friday 27th November). This week is compulsory and contributes to student’s year 12 attendance records. Students will be introduced to the courses, be given course outlines and plans detailing all SAC/SATs for next year, as well as beginning the learning for the first Area of Study.

All students will be expected to begin some work for all of their subjects over the summer break.

Cancer Council Victoria

Marnie Wills and Emily Kealy of 8E are holding a Walkathon at the college on Wednesday 16 December to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Council Victoria. To participate in the event it is a gold coin donation with all profits going to cancer research. The girls have a website where you can donate by credit card directly to Cancer Council, or you can donate in person.

Year 7

An excursion for all Year 7 students over two days: 11th (7A, B, E) and 13th (7C, D, F, G) of November to the Werribee Zoo investigating animal classification and adaptations.

Year 8

Year 8 student, Mitchell Allen, has been well rewarded for his hard work.  With the help of his science teacher, Ms Batty, he entered the annual Science Talent Search run by the Science Teachers' Association of Victoria. Science Talent Search is an annual event and is open to all primary and secondary students up to Year 12.

Finding My Place

Twelve boys from Year 9 participated in the Finding MY Place program at the Whittlesea Library. The session involved a local resident Jo Young who was born with a disability. Jo presented her family’s story of living with a disability right through their lives.  Jo introduced some real disability issues to the boys and real every-day struggles which she is able to take in her stride.  The purpose of the event was to bring disability awareness, confidence and a real life story to the group.  The students were able to visit a new world of determination and spirit.

All students need to ensure that they are familiar with all requirements expected during exams.

Students Painting Indigenous Mural

Indigenous students from the College have recently been involved in the design and painting of a new mural within the Whittlesea Showgrounds. With the helping hands of Art Teacher, Sarah Perry and Baseline for Young People Youth Worker Hans Gregory, the students developed an idea that was "packed with cultural meaning". Over two days the artwork was created and the finished result is something that the College is very proud of.

Last week the Whittlesea local Leader published an article about the work and the involvement of our wonderful indigenous students.

What an amazing week we had here at the college, from 12-16 October.

The Physical Education Department hosted a fun filled activities week with Self Defence classes, Bootcamps, Zumba, Pilates sessions, weight training basics and the very popular basketball and table tennis tournaments.

Students from Years 7 to 12 were invited to participate and it was amazing to see so many students getting involved in so many different activities.
